HASLET--On Sunday, June 23, 2019, PFC Kevin J. Christian, devoted and cherished son, passed while on deployment at the young age of 21. Kevin was born Feb. 12, 1998, in San Luis Obispo, Calif., to parents, Deborah and James. One of his early accomplishments was becoming the first Boy Scout to earn the rank of Eagle in Troop 2020. Kevin studied engineering at University of North Texas and, in April 2018, he became part of the 1% to join the military to serve and protect our country and defend our freedom. While serving in Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, Kevin was awarded the Army Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and qualified as an expert with his assigned weapons. In preparation for deployment, he was named Soldier of the Battle based on his determination and leadership skills. Kevin was a light in many people's lives. He was known for his quick wit and shining spirit. Kevin was preceded in death by both parents and an abundance of family members.

"On behalf of the entire Warrior Battalion, I would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Pfc. Kevin J. Christian. Pfc. Christian was a constant positive force on our team, always ready and willing to shoulder more than his share of the load. He will be sorely missed by the Warriors, but his contribution to our mission and the sacrifices he has made to our country will never be forgotten.” Lt. Col. Dallas Cheatham, commander of the 2nd Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment.

~IN REMEMBRANCE ~

A 17 year-old Texas teenager decided to create a touching tribute to his good friend Kevin from boy scouts. When James learned that his friend took his own life, he was devastated and wanted to do something to honor his memory.

"He was just a role model for me," James told KTVT. "So I wanted to make sure he was missed by even the people who didn't know him."

James decided to mow a giant American flag into his front lawn. It took him four hours to create the massive flag. He used different blade settings to create the stripes and then used a weed-wacker to carve out the 50 stars.
